The featured design is inspired by L'Ornement Polychrome by Albert-Charles-Auguste Racinet (1825–1893), an accomplished illustrator and historian of global ornament. Best known for his major pictorial works Le Costume Historique and L'Ornement Polychrome, Racinet served as engraver and artistic director at the eminent Parisian publisher Firmin Didot et Cie. Published in ten installments between 1869 and 1873, the first edition of L'Ornement Polychrome documented 100 plates of decorative arts from antiquity through the eighteenth century, preserving patterns and design traditions from cultures across the world.
