Artwork designed and digitally remastered by Sarasvati Designs. Owen Jones, a versatile 19th-century architect and design theorist, made significant contributions to color theory, flat patterning, and ornament design. He rose to fame studying Islamic decoration at the Alhambra, influenced by its geometric patterns and abstraction. He was instrumental in the South Kensington Museum's formation and contributed to the Great Exhibition. “Blue Flower Pattern” is from his seminal work, "The Grammar of Ornament," that showcased global design styles. Jones believed in a modern style distinct from Neo-Classicism and the Gothic Revival, finding inspiration in the Islamic world. His "Examples of Chinese Ornament" captured the beauty of Chinese art through meticulously rendered color plates, influencing Western design.
