The design is adapted from Plate No. 10 of Floréal: Dessins & Coloris Nouveaux, an album of twenty pochoir pattern plates by French painter Emile-Allain Séguy, whose work flourished at the intersection of Art Nouveau and Art Deco. Known for his bold color palettes and stylized interpretations of nature, Séguy approached botanical forms not merely as illustrations, but as sources of rhythmic abstraction and decorative possibility. His work remains a brilliant example of how natural motifs can be transformed into expressive, modern ornament.
