Iris, Iris sibirica (1596–1610) is a 16th-century botanical illustration by Flemish physician, botanist, and author Anselmus Boëtius de Boodt. It is part of his collection of plant drawings known as Rorum Plantarum or “The Roots of Plants,” published between 1596 and 1610. De Boodt’s botanical illustrations were groundbreaking in their accuracy and detail. He was one of the first artists to use a microscope to study plants intently, allowing him to capture their intricate features with remarkable precision. His work played a crucial role in the development of botanical science and continues to be admired for its artistic merit and scientific significance.
