Artwork designed and digitally remastered by Sarasvati Designs "Irises" is one of several paintings of irises by the Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh. It belongs to a series he created during his time at the Saint Paul-de-Mausole asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France, in the final year of his life in 1890. This work, like many of van Gogh's pieces, was likely influenced by Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints. These influences are evident in the strong outlines, unusual angles, close-up perspectives, and the use of flat local color without shading. The painting exudes a sense of softness and lightness.
