Rita Rides on the Dolphin is a 1911 illustration by British artist Warwick Goble for the fairy tale The Three Enchanted Princes from The Pentamerone, a collection of Italian folklore by Giambattista Basile. The scene portrays Rita gliding across a turquoise sea atop a dolphin, her long gown and hair flowing with the motion of the waves. The story tells of three princes cursed into animal forms—falcon, stag, and dolphin—until they can be loved for who they are rather than how they appear.
