The Artwork
The Lady Of The Enchanted Rose Garden features an elegantly reclining woman surrounded by a garden in which the roses have grown to positively magnificent proportions. She rests upon an elaborate dark scrolling settee, dressed in a beautifully patterned ensemble of black, white, scarlet, and soft pink.
Beside her stands a wonderfully dressed companion in a red jacket, patterned stockings, gloves, and an extraordinary feathered headpiece, leaning toward her with an elegantly curved staff. Between them, a small white bird adds another delightful detail to the scene.
Above the pair hangs an ornate floral lamp decorated with tiny roses, scalloped trim, and dangling ornaments. Enormous red, pink, and white roses climb across the pale blue background on curling black stems, surrounding the figures with blossoms from nearly every direction.
Reimagined in contemporary illustrative style, the artwork blends Art Deco fashion illustration, romantic floral fantasy, theatrical costume, extravagant roses, decorative pattern, and playful storytelling in a dramatic palette of scarlet, black, white, pink, gray, and silvery blue.
